During my recent debates on X, I’ve encountered men who advocate for abortion as a woman’s right. Some of these men hold up their virtual hands and say, “I have no say! Her body, her choice!”
A man’s disregard for his offspring isn’t natural.
Where in nature is there a male of any species that abandons his young, and perhaps even assists in his preborn baby’s termination, *especially* in the absence of any risk or threat?
Sometimes, supporters of abortion argue that the preborn child is not a life. They point to Scripture: “Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.” (Gen. 2:7)
Yet, after the flood God told Noah, “But you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood.” (Gen. 7:4)
This is consistent with the Laws, as reflected by Lev. 17:11, 14 and Deut. 12:23.
Independent of Scripture but very intrinsic to the debate, when does life begin?
If life is blood, it’s important to know that a unique blood type can be identified about a week after conception.
Statistically, it’s safe to assume ~25% of the women in my network have had abortions. I don’t judge, but I’m sorry for this reality because it reflects the normalization of a disregard for human life and a disregard for consequences. Most babies are aborted because to do otherwise would be inconvenient and otherwise potentially damaging for the woman’s emotional/financial well-being.
So, we should all be asking ourselves the most important question, “What can we do as individuals and collectively to reduce the number of unwanted/unintended pregnancies?”
I’m asking myself this, that’s for sure. I hope you’ll also reflect on it.
Let’s do this!
